As the politicians converse
our people disperse
it's all just madness
in given despair
we all prepare
though we act unaware
we just give them a stare
they'll do what they do
and take what they want
we look to our life
for a moment life is good
then heres life and all reality
and life is bad
but i can take the bad
when it weighs out with the good
only bad is so often and heavy
that's not good
in given despair we all prepare
and want what they take.

I wrote this poem in 1999 on my way to work. I was working for L.H Smith construction out of Tecumseh Michigan.
I pulled safely to the side of the road and wrote it on a McDonald's bag. When I got to the job Larry asked me why I was late.
He acted like he was going to hit me with his hammer when I told him "I stopped to write a poem". It use to be titled"the politicians"
Maybe I should change it back.
