lifes tragedies can be opportunities

Something about the weather
This morning there was a humid fog. As it burned off from the sun I worked building a pole barn for Ed and Judy Cain. Hanover Michigan. As I worked I remembered back to 1999. I worked for L.H Smith construction Tecumseh Michigan. Larry had told us if it was raining in the morning not to lay our lazy asses in bed. To meet him at Saline big boy for breakfast and he was buying.
As I lay in bed the next morning I was awakened by a thunder storm. I remembered what Larry said.
I'm not lazy. I sure am hungry. I stopped to buy a coffee in the Irish Hills. This little trailer on U.S 12 that sold donuts and coffee. The storm didn't get very far in front of me. It was still dark and I could see the lightning in the horizon. Going to get me some breakfast. I was driving  an 88 escort. One headlight and a taco bell Godzilla cup holder Velcro ed on my dash holding a hot cup of coffee. I came over a hill by Trolz  farm on Sharon Hallow rd and the storm had brought a tree down across the road.  I hit it hard. The front of my car pushed my radio straight out of my dashboard. I had to roll out the passenger door. I was thinking "this escort fucked me up". Then I seen headlights coming so I ran up the hill to alert the driver there was a tree across the road with my car stuck in it.
I couldn’t get a hold of Larry to tell him I had just totaled my car. I knew he listened to WIQB 102.9. I called the radio station. They aired my story. I wasn’t going to be at work today I explained to the morning show host. I hit a tree in the middle of the road. I explained my car was stuck in it and I had to Warn other approaching motorists of the hazard.  I had towed my car home before the story ran. Larry called me “you crash your car and I hear about it on the radio? You silly fucker”.  I told him I was OK and I would find a ride to work tomorrow. It wasn’t even noon yet when I laid down from all the excitement. After I lay down the adrenaline wore off and I couldn’t breathe. After a collapse in the front yard my girlfriend Amanda got me to the hospital. I had a punctured lung. I lay in Bixby hospital for ten days being practiced on. Isn't that what they do in medicine? Practice.  I ended up in foot hospital for two days and was on my way to recovery. I ended up being off work for a month.   When I got back to work with Larry my very first day we were swinging plywood on a roof. "Are you sure you should be doing this"? He asked me. Man did I hurt. The next day there was a humid fog in the morning. It wasn't a plan when I woke up this morning but at lunch, on a whim I decided I couldn’t do this type of work.  I went to 102.5 wmxe radio in Adrian no resume,no talent demo tape. Bob Eliot the owner took me to the studio and told me to do something. I opened up the Mic sold a song did a weather and got a radio job! I went back to the job site late. My second day back. Larry scolded me "look at you second day back and your late from lunch".  "Larry" I said "I went and got another job at lunch". I told Larry I hurt so bad I thought I better get a easier job until I heal. I went to work as a carpenter that morning. And went home as a radio personality. This morning I had that feeling again. Like I need to be doing something else. No chest tubes this time……
No tragedy. Someone buy me breakfast. Then at breakfast tell me why I should stop hiding.
Crawl out from under this rock and shine.
